Performance

The 2020 model year says goodbye to the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder, which used to power the lower-level trims. Instead, the Traverse now relies on a 3.6-liter V6 engine-which generates 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque-across the board. This engine has an auto stop/start system, which eliminates idling by automatically shutting down the engine when the Traverse comes to a complete stop and turning it back on when the brake pedal is let up. The V6 comes paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The Traverse offers the choice between a front-wheel drivetrain and an all-wheel-drive system to align within your lifestyle in Needham Heights properly. The L has standard front-wheel drive while the High Country has standard all-wheel drive. Getting a Traverse with all-wheel drive automatically adds trailering equipment to enable towing of up to 5,000 pounds.

Interior

Inside the cabin of the Traverse are three rows of seats. On the L and LS, there's a bench-style seat in the second row to achieve the SUV's maximum occupancy of eight people. A pair of second-row captain's chairs on the other four trims reduces it to seven people.

The Traverse cabin provides a passenger volume of 157.3 cubic feet. In addition, the standard cargo volume-measured from the third row to the liftgate-is measured at 23 cubic feet. That's a lot of space for a midsize SUV. Better yet, you can fold down the third-row seats to expand cargo volume to 57.8 cubic feet, and it is maximized at 98.2 cubic feet with both second- and third-row seats folded down. The Traverse is remarkably calm and quiet-thanks to its Active Noise Cancellation acoustic technology.

The LT is the only trim that offers a choice between cloth and leather seats. As a result, you can choose between "LT Cloth" and "LT Leather." Also introduced at the LT trim level are a leather-wrapped steering wheel and 8-way power adjustability and power lumbar support on the driver's seat. LT Leather welcomes front seat-heating, as well as 6-way power adjustability with power lumbar support extended to the front passenger seat. Chevrolet adds steering-wheel heating at the RS level. And the higher-level Premier and High Country get perforated leather trim, rear-seat-heating, and driver-side memory.

Technology

The Chevy Traverse integrates its infotainment features with the brand-new Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system. Replacing the long-running MyLink system, Infotainment 3 comes with a 7-inch HD touchscreen, which has an easy-to-use menu. Also standard for infotainment are voice recognition technology, Bluetooth wireless technology, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, and two USB ports for each row.

The standard comfort and convenience features available on the Traverse include cruise control, tri-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, and the OnStar Connected Access communication system for functions such as vehicle diagnostics and dealer maintenance notification.

The LT trim range welcomes a garage-door opener and a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM radio. The LT Leather specifically gets a remote engine start, a 4.2-inch color driver information center, an 8-inch color HD touchscreen, and the brand-new 360L platform for more robust SiriusXM service. Enhancing the Traverse at the RS trim level are an auto-dimming rearview mirror, 8-inch color HD touchscreen navigation, and a 10-speaker Bose stereo system. Only the Premier and High Country have wireless charging ability.

Safety

In the event of a crash, the Chevy Traverse comes equipped with a driver's knee airbag, dual front impact airbags, dual front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and dual roof-mounted side curtain airbags. For this model year, Chevrolet added a buckle-to-drive feature to Teen Drive mode, which is designed to guide teenage drivers to develop more responsible driving habits around Boston.

Other standard safety features include a rearview camera with camera and rearview mirror view choices, electronic stability control with traction control, LED daytime running lights, a rear-seat reminder, and a theft-deterrent system.

The LT Leather gets rear park assist, additional lane change alert with side blind zone alert, and rear cross-traffic alert. The RS level is where Chevrolet provides automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, and an HD surround vision camera. The Premier and High Country get a following distance indicator added on the Premier. And the High Country is the only trim to have adaptive cruise control and an automatic emergency braking system to keep you safe while driving around Cambridge, MA.

Trim Options

There are a few options on some trims to make the Chevy Traverse more ready for off-road adventures in Newton, MA. A heavy-duty cooling system is available on the LT, RS, and Premier trims to help the V6 engine dissipate heat and consequently prevent overheating. A trailer hitch lets you tow a boat or trailer up to 5,000 pounds, and hitch guidance assists you in adequately lining up to your trailer hitch. Notably, trailering equipment is standard on the High Country.
